As a child I grew up around dogs. We always had several of them as family pets. These were my 4-legged best friends and we shared many adventures! While in school, I read every book and piece of literature I could find about dogs and learned about anatomy, behavior and training.
In the late 1980's I became a dog groomer. You learn a lot about behavior and reading body language if you don't want to be continuously frustrated. It was then that I discovered that owners wanted to understand their dog's behavior, but didn't know where to turn to get answers. This ignited my desire to become a professional trainer. I soon found National K-9 School for Dog Trainers.
Scott Mueller, the owner and founder of NK-9, began a program not only for basic obedience, but piloted a program for training handicap assistance dogs. At NK-9, I learned everything from basic obedience through handicap assistance, to Police K9 and behavior modification. NK-9 is approved by The Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools to issue professional certifications. Upon completion of the Master Trainer Program I was ready to assist dogs and owners on their life journey together.
My goal is to help dogs and owners have a happy and fulfilling relationship together. Every training program is tailor-made to fit each individual dog and owner, and owners are often surprised at how easy it is to get the awesome family pet they have always wanted. A dog that is welcome anywhere is a joy, and those dogs are happy because they know exactly what is expected of them which, in turn, gives them confidence in knowing that they can meet those expectations. A well-trained dog is a very happy dog!
