AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy and Canine Good Citizen testing

Is your dog a good citizen? Show her off!

The AKC (American Kennel Club) has programs in place to assist owners in having a well-mannered dog, and to reward that well-mannered dog.

The AKC S.T.A.R. puppy program is for dog's under one year of age. It consists of classes once weekly covering many topics pertinent to dogs and their owners.  Owners must attend every class to pass. At the end of the 6-weeks, the owners are awarded S.T.A.R. puppy recognition.

For the Canine Good Citizen program, there are now 3 levels, Canine Good Citizen, Community Canine Good Citizen, and Urban Canine Good Citizen. For each level, there are 10 situations that the dog must pass to be awarded their certification.

We also offer Trick Dog Testing. There are 5 levels of Trick Dog titles.

All of these, including S.T.A.R. puppy, are official AKC titles. It is open to mixed breed dogs as well as pure breeds. For Community CGC,  Urban CGC and the Trick Dog titles, the dogs must have a registration number.  These are easily obtained on the AKC website and are not expensive.  Numbers for Pure Bred dogs are under the PAL listing (purebred alternative) for mixed breeds it is under Canine Partners.

We offer classes in the CGC test. Check our web page or facebook page for current class scheduling

For information on any of these programs, which we offer here, as well as trick dog testing, please consult the AKC website at AKC.org
